I remember all those songs! My mother sang Poor Rich Man:

You can usually judge a man by the clothes he wears
And the car he's been riding in.
And you can usually tell if he's doing very well
By the house he's living in.
But I am here to say it doesn't work that way
With everybody I know...
Because I just got acquainted with some poor rich folks a little time ago.

Now I'm a poor rich man
I'm a poor rich man.
Oh you see, it really happened to me...
I'm a millionarie!
I know that I'm poor but I've got a lot more,
Than many rich folks that I know.
I've got a home in the sky,
That money couldn't buy...
Yes I'm a poor rich man!

Thank-you for reminding me of that song!

Blessings, Rhoni

You would have to KNOW the story... he lost his mom as a teenager and that is his way of never letting her die... He's my uncle

Re: Southern Gospel

Is there anyone who has heard of 'Terry Jo Terrell'? He sings southern gospel. I am looking for the lyrics to one of his songs, Gardens of Stone. If anyone has them, I would appreciate a copy.

Is this the one you're looking for?

GARDENS OF STONE
by Heirline

Once again death has brought us here,
To this old solemn place;
As we lay a precious loved one down,
Into a lonesome grave;
The family has gathered 'round,
To say their last goodbyes;
But surely there are memories,
That won't be left behind.

And like the seed that comes alive,
In the ground they have been sown;
They wait for His return
To this garden of stone.

One day when Jesus calls my name,
He knows just where I'll be;
The dead in Christ shall live again,
For all eternity.
With those alive here on earth,
They'll be gathered around God's throne;
And there won't be any gardens of stone.

Jesus asked, "When I return,
Will I find faith on earth?"
And with the hope of His coming,
We place our loved ones in the dirt;
In granite we've etched their names,
To stand the test of time;
These markers here reminds us,
That a child of God here lies.

But one day they'll not be needed,
For death will not be known;
When He calls them forth,
From this garden of stone.

One day when Jesus calls my name,
He knows just where I'll be;
The dead in Christ shall live again,
For all eternity.
With those alive here on earth,
They'll be gathered around God's throne;
And there won't be any gardens of stone.

No we won't need any gardens of stone!

My personal opinion is that Southern Gospel is God's music, but I do enjoy some other styles as well. I grew up listening to Gold City and they have always been my favorite. Cathedrals were a close second. There is a local quartet here in Arkansas that is based out of my church. I consider them to be good friends and the quality of their music and sound is superb. If you would like to check them out, you can find them at www.NewWayquartet.com.

Re: Southern Gospel

I must say I strongly dislike southern gospel. I tried to make myself like it since I went to a church that felt it was the only music holy enough to listen to, but I could not do it. I tried! (Ugggh)

Anyway, carry on.
