1) Earrings could be considered Body Modification. The piercing of the ear (or any other body part) should be abstained from.
2) About gold and other costly array. When it becomes the focal point of your life (as many women take it) it becomes an issue. When you can not marry (or date) a women because you can not (or will not) purchase expensive Diamonds, Pearls, or Metals she has become materialistic.
3) We should be more concerned about keeping our appearance modest, as to not draw attention to us, but to unto Christ in us.
I do take offense to those Preachers and Saints that spend five grand on a suit or dress just because they can. When they start decking out their clothes with huge flowers, or lapel pins, tie clips, etc. They get a boastful spirit about them.
