Okay...lets see if I can try again. I would rather just "dress down" as in take off earings and things that were easily removed as to not offend when I have to preach, than to preach in them and have people to not receive the message. The message is more important.

What would that hurt?

How far do we go, and how much unnecessary stuff do we impose on ourselves just to avoid offending someone?

For me its simple...and I'm not talking about "every day" practice...I'm talking about when preaching or sharing fellowship with people and you KNOW what they believe concerning certain things. Case in point...why would I WILLINGLY go into a vegan food place with a full length mink coat on?

OK, I've done that by putting on long pants when visiting another church but in my home church I can teach Bible Study in a tee shirt, shorts, and sandals.

Right.

Me too (using the same example). I've "dressed down" to accomidate others when invited to speak at another church...within reason of course. Some things I can't just simply "take off" but they saw my effort to respect their customs I think.

One thing to remember
if you take off your wedding band to preach in another church,
they can probably see your tan line where it used to be.
