Even if what you charge with this statement is true, what would be wrong for a man to have a Mohawk? Is the Mohawk itself sinful?

This made me picture myself with a mohawk. Funny mental image. You'd have to see it though, I guess...any prophets with mind reading powers here?

Why? Because I would create a stumbling block for them.
There is a principle in this when Paul was talking about this in his letter to the Church at Corinth.
I want to edify people, not tear them down. I want to encourage them. Not level their faith in God.

I think maybe I'm with you... at least as long as they concede there is no great salvific virtue in not eating red meat.
So we have established it is primarily a personal thing. A pastor should not eat that steak, and cease from having someone shave if the one he fellowships believes it to be something of a stumblingblock.
Realizing it might get complicated to avoid offense with so many, I would primarily use the scripture as a default position on doing, eating and wearing.

Separation from the world, unity of the church, unity of the district.

There is no biblical reasoning detain a man from the platform at the whim of a pastor.
|
No whim, just scrape your face if you want to be on the platform. Why does it have to be so difficult? An in-house rule that we have. You want to minister on this platform, you shave. Fortunately we've never (as far as I know.) had an issue with someone coming to minister that needed to shave, was told to shave, then they declined to.

Re: Is there anyone who is Apostolic anymore?
Let me further make a point.
In UPC, if a man commits adultery, he can never ever hold a license to preach with the UPC. Not even if he repents and becomes the most honorable saint in the system. What happens to the man whose gift and calling to serve the Lord in the capacity the Lord called him to serve is refused admittance to preach and pastor? (The gifts and callings of the Lord are without repentance.)

No it's not and neither is a beard that is the point. But In general a Mohawk identifies you with the world not the church and the church is just trying its best to be seperate from the world.

The bible calls for a bishop to be blameless... If a pastor fell when he was a pastor I would not want him ever trying to work in a situation with me and my wife if he has already fallen in that position...
