Amen. Its so ludicruos.

I wouldn't say it's ludicrous. But dressing like you don't care says things, like... one doesn't care. Flip flops and khaki shorts to a wedding? PJs to dinner with the wife at a nice restaurant? Ye olde 'round the house' clothes to a family reunion?

Often, people have higher standards for secular things than sacred things.

It is definitely a pendulum of extremes, no suits, so we swing wide to looking like I got shot out of a canon. But like I said it is really the whole package. Outwardly we can appear godly but in reality we can be whitewashed sepulchres. Yet, we can also look like dead men's bones

Some people want church to be like Planet Fitness.

How a person dresses speaks volumes about the person. Go to a job interview looking like you don't care and see how that goes.

Matthew 23:25, Luke 11:39, Matthew 23:27, Matthew 23:28, Luke 11:44, Jesus in these five scriptures called the outer attire of the Pharisee's beautiful, appearing righteous, but were merely whitewashed sepulchers, because of the intentions of their hearts were wicked. Proverbs 26:23 a beautiful sliver glaze over an earthen vessel doesn't make the earthenware anything more than what it is, just like someone clean on the outside but nasty on the inside. Jesus had nothing against the look of the Pharisees, just that the Pharisees use their appearance as camouflage to entrap the unsuspecting. Man does look on the outward appearance but God looks on the heart 1 Samuel 16:7. Yet, this doesn't mean that since we are to concentrate on godly behavior, we shouldn't follow suit with brushing or teeth or growing so large that our feet are encouraged with gout.

Re: Is it true that....

Matter of fact Jesus said these thinks you otta have done, but not to leave the others undone. Jesus didn't advocate being slouchy, but he placed the focus on the heart.

version 1
Jesus on the inside, working on the outside. Oh, what a change in my life.

version 2
Jesus on the inside, nevermind the outside. Oh, what a easy going life.
