That shows you right there that even though the death rate of the common flu is less than 1%, the transmissibility is so high that actual deaths count seem high.
CoVid-19 is as contagious as the common flu, but with much higher death rate.

Sorry guys I don't want to scare you but this can be one of those in our life time. Just be prepared before the Groceries stores are empty and the prices are jacked up.

Out of 93,075 cases as of today globally:
There are 39,472 cases that we don't know the outcome yet.
There are 53,603 cases that we do know the outcome: 3,204 died, the rest made it through.
That's roughly 6% global death rate.
If you go outside China:
* Italy: 160 recovered, 79 died = 33% death rate (seems like a low quantity to be stats significant, though)
* South Korean: 41 recovered, 32 died = 41% death rate (too small quantity to be stats significant yet)
* Iran: 291 recovered, 77 died = 20% death rate

All those numbers, especially the ones outside china, would make it more clear in one month.

The Spanish flu had a death rate of 5%-35% depending on the area, and it ability to transmit was brutal, like this one.

The common flu has a death rate of less than 1%.

Thank you for sharing those numbers and stats. Apparently that is the major concern with this virus, is the fact that it is so contagious, and it affects everyone differently, making it hard to spot symptoms early. Every person in this area who has gotten the virus has had strange symptoms not following the typical flu course. A high school student now has it, and several school districts are shuttered. The student had a fever, stayed home, got better, went back to school, then got worse, and that is when he was tested positive. So its unpredictable nature, and also the fact that many who have tested clear of the virus, later test positive.

I saw an article on yahoo that said something like “ Seattle like a ghost town due to cronavirus “. I texted my brother because he was at a work convention earlier this week and now he is sight seeing.
