Look, we know that history as it really happened has been rewritten to make somebody look good or bad.

Lee Harvey Oswald was branded the killer of John F. Kennedy without a trial by his peers and has gone down in history as his killer. Had he lived and had a trial, would he have been acquitted? We will never know.

We have a case right in this area where a high profile person has been lauded as a hero in his death. But the locals know what kind of man he really was.

So...we have some Christians who have been saved by the blood of the Lamb and they throw that away because they love the riches of this world and because they want to exercise power over God's people. And some want to say that is not perversion of what Christ taught?
One thing though.... I'm not touting anyone as being good enough. MY whole point is that no one is good. All have sinned and ALL deserve hell. The bible does not say because a person is good and does good works that God will save that person. It's quite the opposite. Repent surely is acknowledging your evil against God and turning from that evil. We are commanded to repent are we not? The command was not for some, but for all because all have sinned. So I don't possibly see how a good muslim, good momon, good jehovah wittness, good baptist, good pentecostal can be saved because of their goodness. If so please tell me.

Good works after salvation is entirely different, but it still doesn't keep you saved because you do good works.

One thing can get you saved and one thing will keep you saved. The blood of Jesus Christ.

Will good people go to heaven? Yes, but the real question is how does one become good?

Re: Repentance, Holiness, and the Church

Is Jesus the Messiah?
Do Jews believe that Jesus is the Messiah?
Do Muslims believe that Jesus is the Messiah?
Do Hindus believe that Jesus is the Messiah?
Sure the Mormons say He is the Messiah, but only after they do what they can.

So if He is not the Messiah are they saved from their sins?

I would not call your personal def wrong, please understand;
but you can't escape that your understanding of God comes
via a "model," we'll call it Western Protestant.

Now, in your mind, God told you to be a WP,
and as long as your heart tells you that WP is
the direction for you to go, you are obeying the Spirit, imo.

But when you determine that anyone not adhering
to WP is lost, you become codependent upon my
response to this, rather than demonstrating
"I understand," imo.

just sound stupid to you.

The point being you would accuse
(revealing your premises) people of being deceived,
when we are all "deceived" in the manner you suggest.

They are liars, perverts and cheaters,
and you are a killer when you accuse.
I have some related issue, that I'm
prolly blind to (maybe stupidity), but
your approach will only prevent you
walking on water, not help me to do so.

I dare say none of us in America would live the life of Paul, who was beaten, whipped, shipwrecked, etc. The IRS tells churches what to do or they will get their 501 c 3 tax exempt status cut off and they line up like children going to recess.

Christians have no true living examples here in America except for some who truly have a pastor's heart to reach the lost like the one who deliberately chose the worst neighborhood he could find in Atlanta...and perhaps those overseas in the jungles preaching the word.

Hence ..It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. (Psalms 118:8)
Of course, we do, but I get you; we have no Christian "heroes."
This should be a big clue.

Amen! But one needs ears to hear "talk,"
and we (me included) assume that ours
work fine, and so anyone who disagrees
with us needs help.

Thus revealing our premises.
Since that prolly won't track too well,
I'll say that we don't understand virtually any
of what Christ said, if we hear anything other
than "I understand," or at least do not proceed from this premise.

I think you meant to post
"So if they do not believe He is the Messiah..?"
the assumption here being that if they do not
adhere to your definition of "believe," they are lost.

"Every knee will bow, and every tongue confess..."
I see Christ reflected in Gandhi, where you do not.
