Can the UPC advertising on television really stop revival? I find that idea laughable. God is gonna have a church people. Maybe its time we expand our view of exactly who, and what that is.
We (UPC) are not the only players any more. We have a yearly net growth rate of 1%. Don't feed me a line of cockamamie that tv evangelism is going to hamper growth.
WHAT GROWTH?

Probability is, though, that it will greatly accelerate the church to church migration that has become so common!

Why would that be? I really don't see why this would happen.

Human nature... I can't explain it either but I can tell you that WITHOUT TV POA , with NO EFFORT on the part of POA, gets unexpected transfers on a regular basis. Folks have many different reasons for making that move but I can assure that probably 40 to 50% of that congregation drives past at least one and probably more than one UPC to get to church on Sunday morning.
Since according to persistent testimony on AFF all UPC saints have TV, putting the ads out there will just accelerate the moves to the bigger church to the point that the smaller churches will become so small they cannot survive. Hasta la vista smaller churches... hello mega churches...
I am not passing judgment so much as stating what I feel will happen and what "all the fuss is about."

If what you are saying were true then all the Methodist, AOG, Baptist, LDS, and any other organization that uses TV would have nothing but mega churches. We all know that is not the case.

I seriously doubt I would attend a church regularly if it were broadcast on TV. So for me it would have the opposite effect...

Exactly ... What growth?? ... there are reports of 1% church growth ... yet no one discusses the ministerial turnaround ... it's my understanding that the ministerial fellowship has had a net growth of maybe 400-500 ministers in 10 years
