Re: Mandatory Flu Vaccine
There you go then? It would seem that even the threat of
joining on of these would render this moot?

Unfortunately it's not that easy. It is the clinics and hospitals themselves who are making it a condition of employment. And, as I saw on the bulletin board at my clinical, 90% of employess must be vaccinated for the best reimbursement dollars. So, the gov doesn't have to mandate it, all they have to do is link it to $$$ and the clinics themselves make it a requirement.

Re: Mandatory Flu Vaccine
I got an email from one of my instructors yesterday. She said she felt that the situation at school was not my fault and that I should be reimbursed for my classes! I thought that was great! She said she would write a letter saying such. I did not solicit this in any way. She asked me to call a counselor and speak to her. I called the counselor who was pretty argumentative at the outset and demanding me to ask for options such as wearing a mask. I told her I asked for options and was told to get the shot or I was out. (I have emails stating such). I told her I had already asked and that I was told to get it or not continue with my "nursing education". Again, she pressured me to ask again now. I said I have been out of classes almost two weeks now....it is a little late and she seemed to agree.
So, anyway, I have paperwork to fill out for this. I am going to use it to make and have a voice in the school against mandated vaccines and ask for the rights ot those who do not believe in vaccines to have the opportunity for nursing education rather than just being pushed out.
I have no intentions of fighting this on a legal level. I will just walk through the doors as God opens them as seems to have happened with this opening here.
Keep me in your prayers. These are rights for citizens we all should care about.

People got along for years working in the hospital without mandated vaccines! For them to force something on other people is not freedom. The reason people acquiesce to mandated vaccines is because they are not totally informed about what vaccines contain and/or possible side effects including full-blown auto immune reactions.
Kudos to you ILG for standing up for your rights.
Please make copies of all paperwork and other correspondence to keep for a time.

Re: Mandatory Flu Vaccine
Pretty soon I am going to be filling out the paperwork for the school (I wanted to wait until I withdrew from classes, which I still have not completely done yet. I am also still in one of the classes online, which I will finish).
Thinking about this it hard. I always have a hard time standing up for myself and yet, I am angry too. After taking classes for literally years as prerequisites for this, doing all the medical requirements (physical, TB test etc, etc), quitting my job, etc etc. I have a quite long list of expenses and time invested. Also, my classes were paid for this year and I got a scholarship and I may never have those opportunities again. I was royally stressed out in nursing school and then they threw the flu shot requirement on me.
I have thought about this quite a bit since leaving. A small part of me says if I would have taken the shot, everything would have been fine. But, isn't this what is wrong with America? I didn't want to take it. I have a very, very hard time standing up for myself. I suppose a lot has to do with my history. I am supposed to just be abused and take it and shut up about it. How many of you know what it is like to be emotionally beaten bloody and not be able to do hardly anything about it?
My faith has really blossomed again since all this happened. I feel like I stood up for what I believed in. Then again, it socked me in the teeth financially. What else is new? I sure am glad I got this job.
I guess I'm somewhat confused and need some support is all.
I know they were wrong. I just don't understand life. Please pray for me that I know what to say to these people. I don't know if I will get anything from them. I would like to. But I would also like them to freely admit they did me wrong. Maybe for once that could happen for me.

Re: Mandatory Flu Vaccine
All nursing schools do this. The only reason most people just go on and take the shot is because they are not educated about vaccines. I'm not going to say that I won't take any vaccine. I just want my health freedom to decide for myself which ones I will take.
I will take a tetanus vaccine if needed. I took the Hepatitis B because I worked around so much blood. Bad mistake on my part, but that was before I started studying vaccines. There are natural homeopathic remedies that help the flu.
It is better that you made up your mind ahead of time because this will revisit you every year when you will be forced to take flu vaccines every year or lose your job.
My sister took one every year. Every year she was miserable, hoarse throat, fever...etc on the day she took the shot.
My belief is that in the future, you will not have a choice of either taking the vaccine or wear a respirator over your face. It will end up that you must take it or lose your job. I have no facts to lay this on...just have that belief from the things my resources tell to me. They don't like taking the vaccine but they do so for their job sake.
Back in 2003 or 2004, they tried to make all law enforcement, first responders and medical personel take the smallpox vaccine. The majority would not take it.
Just think how you will be backed into a corner if you actually invested all that time and money ...only to have the vaccine ultimatum given to you years later. And if you feel that way about taking the vaccines, would you feel good about giving vaccines to other people?
I know I would not do anything that I would not take myself.

I agree that it should be a personal decision - not mandated. My husband works in the IT department for a hospital. He was told he HAD to have a flu vac or he'd be fired. The crazy thing is, he is not in a hospital setting... he works at headquarters... an office building. He was told that he "needed to set a good example," whatever that means.
