In short, EVERY other way aside from the cross is salvation by works. EVERY OTHER WAY. And salvation by works is plainly refuted in many instances in the bible.
Fulfilling the golden rule for salvation is SALVATION BY WORKS.
Living like the Good Samaritan without the cross for salvation is SALVATION BY WORKS.
Forgiving people of their wrongs to us, without the cross, is SALVATION BY WORKS.
No matter which way you slice it, any means to heaven WITHOUT THE CROSS is SALVATION BY WORKS.
This is the best summation I can give from my study. I can only speak for myself.

Love your neighbor; this fulfills the law and prophets.

Deu 15:17 Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.

Where is salvation mentioned in any of these?
Just because something does not save does not mean we should not do it.
Just because we must do something does not mean it saves.
Just read what you're quoting.

Re: Those who never heard about Jesus?
Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.
...not good and profitable to bring about salvation.
Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We're not our own workmanship. We're his workmanship.
Works don't create us. New creation is salvation.
We're created UNTO GOOD WORKS, not BY GOOD WORKS.

Re: Those who never heard about Jesus?
i have a catalogue of some posts that i would be happy to dig up, and we can read them together if you like

so who is arguing this? i have already asked how one might more fully understand the Cross, and i think your answer was quite indicative wadr. Would you like to try again? Note that you latched onto this 'salvation by works' thing again in response to a red-letter quote, after we had established already that works will not save one. It seems that you are quick to dismiss everything Christ said, and one has to ask at what point are you fighting God? And to what end?

Re: Those who never heard about Jesus?
to ask this another way, what do you gain by insisting upon 'they are all lost?'
what do you lose by adopting the pov 'i do not know about them,' if you are that reluctant to go so far as to admit that Christ is indicating personal salvation in those quotes? (not even considering the beatitudes, we'll get to that next)

Re: Those who never heard about Jesus?
I wonder if Shaz spends any time on Muslim forums trying to correct them, as much as he does here trying to correct us?
After all, Islam requires everybody to acknowledge Mohammad and the Koran?
Hey, I wonder if Shaz spends any time trying to correct Orthodox Jews? After all, Judaism teaches all sorts of attitudes he claims to take issue with...

Re: Those who never heard about Jesus?
unfortunately, where your arg falls apart is that i am Christian, and i am not trying to correct anyone; i am here to judge and condemn you, if you think you can justify teaching "All Catholics Are Lost" with Scripture. I believe you slunk away @ "you are gutless..." care to pick it back up from there, or what?
