I'm oneness and from the north.. and I've heard it.

I liked it just fine.. but I agree it wouldn't be a good song for a visiting Trinitarian. Still, a person can sing it without the third verse if they want.. and it's got a great melody as well.

I guess I'm the odd one out on this one. I LOVE it when our choir sings - Let Me Tell You Who Jesus Is! Just reading the words don't seem to give it the same "umph" that I get when they sing it. I had a friend who was coming from a trinitarian background. Never seemed to bother her. To me the message it gives is not any different than "It's All In Him"

I do have a problem with some of these newer worship songs - like someone else stated, it's hard for me to get into worship when I have to constantly watch the screen to know the words - and sometimes there doesn't seem to be a real melody. On most of them, the words are great and I could "listen" to them and worship God and think about Him - but to sing "with" the worship leader/praise singers, I have a harder time really getting in to it.

And BTW - I am pretty sure "Joy Unspeakable" is 202(a) in our old songbook.

One song I was glad when our worship leader retired is.... "We are able to go up and take the country......" Boy, we wore that one out.

There is a song that our church use to sing that drove me nuts. I don't know the name of it. It goes something like this

Get your mind on Jesus and let's have church
Get your mind on Jesus and let's have church
Put your hands together, both feet on the floor, let the Holy Ghost move from the pulpit to the door...

People would go nuts every time the song was sung. A friend of mine called the song "Get your mind on Jesus and let's go berserk." lol

Any song that includes the lyrics:
"He picked me up, turned me around
Placed my feet on higher ground" (or "solid ground")
Not sure about the most worn out songs, but to me, those seem to be clearly the most worn-out lyrics in gospel music.

I haven't seen that anyone has mentioned this one, sorry if it has been added already but I have never understood why songs such as "i Don't Know What You Came To Do" were such a great hit. I mean, why should we sing lyrics that we would never say in person to another churchmember or guest. That is just rude. Insinuating that you are the only one who has come to worship is very cocky in my opinion. Ok, I'll be quiet now........

"What did YOU come to do?"
is the next question that comes to mind. I was mentored to avoid this song along with fluff words in my preaching.
