I can't believe he got this much attention.
Quote:
can someone give me some information on this Pastor?
where he is from, what group or Org. is he with, what church does he pastor?
does anyone know him ? This is the first i've heard of him
|
he is from Tampa. Ex UPC. I'm not sure if he has ties with the AMF. He is not in an org, but he has created a "fellowship," the Jesus Messieh Fellowship International.
Charles Johnson and Bill Price have ties to him. He may have ties to St. Matt.
He does a lot of missions work in the Philipines and Africa. I have not had any bad experiences coresponding with him, in fact, in 2003 he sent me an email that really hit home. But, I will not sit here and make excuses for him (or anyone else).

It was actually a pretty interesting read, I must say.
Even with guys like this, sometimes you can still be like a chicken in the yard... pick out the kernels of corn, and stay away from the pebbles.
This quote I found very interesting:
" His holiness, John Paul II was truly a dedicated and courageous messenger of God. His legacy will be a model that all of us should follow. His Holiness was not only a leader of the church, but also a leader of the world. His life was an example everyone can learn from. His mission to spread the Good News of faith throughout the world, and his dedication to human rights was an inspiration." (T. D. Jakes, "Bishop T. D. Jakes Statement on The Passing of Pope John Paul II")
(I know its a couple of years old, but it was my first time seeing that quote.)
The pope?... dedicated messenger of God?... a model all of us should follow?... a leader of the church... an example everyone one can learn from??
Are you kidding me?
I guess I was kinda surprised to see that.. but then again, this is Jakes we're talking about. (sigh)
Lets see if he has similar glowing words of praise after the Dalai Lama dies.

It is interesting to me that with this guy you are going to go with the "get the kernels, stay away from the pebbles", but with Jakes you are so closed minded.
This I will say......Jakes' chance of Heaven is much better than the ticked off prophet.

Very good program, we had it in Dallas a few months ago. Folks don't have to be afraid of growth, might even learn something. It it a bit of overload for one setting however. Free of charge is a nice touch.

There are many ways to respond to that, bro. I've considered Jakes to be a compromiser and a fence-sitter for quite some time...but I'll keep things real simple for now...
I will reply to you with a simple question: Do you think that Pope John Paul, (or any other Roman Catholic pope) has been "... a dedicated messenger of God?... a model all of us should follow?... a leader of the church... an example everyone one can learn from?? "
I am interested in hearing your answer to that. So let's hear it, Pastor D.

Thanks for keeping things real simple.....it helps.
First of all....your guestion to me is based on something you just read for your self less than 15 minutes ago, that was quoted by a man (Reckhart) who is known to mis-quote, cheat, spin, and at the very least take things way out of context. I would like to read, if it exists, the entire statement made by Bishop for proper context.
With that being said....if Jakes did made such a statement, I would not agree. However, I have that same ability as you.....take the kernels and leave the pebbles.
