Want about swimming down at beach? Bikinis, one piece, or swimming trunks? Yes, no?

Is Esaias imagining that he knows what Tithesmeister imagines about makeup?

Even though I don’t remember having expressed an opinion on makeup?

Imagine that!

Just in general, these questions remind me of the second chapter of Galatians. Specifically these verses . . .

[4] And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:
[5] To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.

If we are not careful, we lose that liberty that we should have in Christ and replace it with the bondage of legalism.

I often hear it said by preachers who want to live and die by the law “well standards won’t make you holy, but if you are holy inside it will manifest on the outside “.

If they truly believe this, why do they harp on standards so much? It seems to me that they would focus on the heart, and have faith that their doctrine would deliver the results that they are convinced should follow.

Has anyone else ever wondered about this?

Sorry, but the harp playing belongs to the liberal religious. No one, and I do mean no one whines about standards as much as liberals. They cry like weeping children concerning legalism, but seem not ready to apply logic to their tears.
Religion: a set of dos and don’ts. A legalistic frame work created by its founder.
But what about full body tattoos? You skated right pass my question. Because to attempt to answer it would cause you to use logic instead of trying to be the winner of some ecclesiastical game show. Modern Christendom is a shape shifting side show. Where opinions are given God’s thumbs up as He cracks open a six pack with you. Make up goes from modest to outrageous, because there is no standard, dresses get short, but pants stay along, unless logic is applied and the pants get short with the dresses. Long hair on women, short hair on men. Until that is left up to opinion, and abbreviated with holy water sprinkled on it. Ecclesiastically bless into the have it your way religion. But am I receiving any expertise from this forum? No. Because more than 3/4s are made up of disgruntled ex-Christians of some shape or form. Never have they built anything remotely close to a “church” a “home group’” watched people pick up “standards” without anyone telling them to do them. Nor have they been in churches were neophytes pick up standards all by their lonesome without instruction. Only to be dragged around the parking lot until the meat feel off their bones. Because they were part of a church family were the word legalism was used more than the word love. The religiously devout seem to devor their young. Whether whatever side of the spectrum you are on. Guy and gal want to support their ministry with an offering and the offering is 10 %. Well, guess what, depending on where they are currently camped out they might get high fived. Or if they are sitting among the no tithers, they get deep sixed. It is the human experience, where we break off into groups that believe what we believe. Look like we look, act like we act. We fight against the other, claiming that we have all the answers. But in reality we are just a bunch natural carnal religious advocates of our own human will.

Re: Hair, sleeves, pantsuits, jewelry, and makeup

Brother EB the Bible speaks against tattooing your body if I understand correctly. So what do you do with new converts that have full sleeve tattoos?

I believe they are a new creature of in Christ. I don’t believe they should go get more tattoos but I don’t believe they should be condemned for the ones they already have. It is not like they are going to wash away in the baptismal tank.

What do you think?

Where? The law? Buried somewhere in the old testament? Something Moses said?

Was it literal?

I think most believe the proscription against tattoos is from Leviticus 19:28.

Oh, I agree. I was just wondering about what seems to me to be a selective buffet style approach to the law and the old testament.
