Father, open our eyes to the spiritual realm and help us discover the guardians and guides of Heaven. Allow them to have greater presence in our lives and allow us to discover their reality as an expression of your divine love and mercy. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

I was talking to a friend at work today and I sensed my guardian angel. I call him "Sam". The angel impressed upon me to get the subject of God into the conversation. When I did, my friend became rather cold. My angel then impressed upon me an image of him being abused in church by a man. That's when I stopped and just looked at him. My friend said, "What? What is it?" I said, "I'm feeling in my spirit that you were abused in church and that you have yet to truly deal with the pain it has caused you." My friend turned white and his eyes became filled with tears. He said, "Go on..." So I shared some encouragement from the Lord.

Thank you Jesus.

First off, I am a skeptic of skeptics when it comes to things like that, but I do want to ask, "How" did your guardian angel impress this upon you? What was this experience like and have you seen him?

Isn't the purpose of our having the Holy Spirit to do such things in our lives? One entire Scripture in the Bible hints at what some perceive to be possibly speaking of a personal guardian angel. Not much to build a belief on in my opinion.

Are you ever skeptical of these visions, or whatever it is you call it? Don't forget Galatians 1:8.

Brother, honestly, does this not sound more like having a familiar spirit? As I was someone who was deeply embedded in occultism and channelling and junk like that, I have to warn you... this kind of 'guardian angel named Sam' business sounds pretty sketchy...

Great questions. And I don't mind skepticism. I'll share. When dealing with angels one typically senses their presence first. Then it's like images (snapshots or short visions) are impressed upon the mind. They are very subtle and must be singled out from your own thoughts. For example, I saw this man being abused by another man when they were alone in a church. Why would I possibly imagine such a thing? It was in an instant and the image gone. So... I spoke up on it. The gift of knowledge often works this way too. The Bible calls these "visions". Although one might hear sounds, see colors, smell smells, etc. They are "words" from the Spirit. Therefore, they are Words of Knowledge even if visionary or auditory.

It's my understanding that the Holy Spirit often flows through angels the way the Holy Spirit flows through anointed preachers and teachers. The angel gets no credit and imparts no power of his own. He is but a servant, a minister. So technically, the Word of Knowledge was sent by an angel through the power of the Holy Spirit. Many times angels serve in this manner and we simply don't know it.

Angels can bring healing, strength, encouragement, warning, protection, direction, etc.... all through the power (virtue) of the Spirit. Even Jesus benefited from angelic assistance...

Matthew 4:11
Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

Mark 1:13
And he was there in the wilderness forty days, tempted of Satan; and was with the wild beasts; and the angels ministered unto him.

Luke 22:43
And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

And angels serve us also...

Hebrews 1:7
And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire.

If the Lord Himself benefited from angels... we do well not to belittle the notion.

However, should an angel deliver false doctrine regarding Christ's identity, that would indeed be something to rebuke. So the saint who becomes spiritually attuned to angelic realities must also be well versed in spiritual warfare, discernment, and being able to try the spirits. It can be tricky. But it shouldn't be feared if one has the Lord leading them into the realms of spirit.

That would be sketchy. For me, it's just a nickname because I don't know the angel's name. He won't tell me. Angels often guard their names so as to prevent you from worshipping them. The closest I came to a name was "Jarom" or "Yarom". Then I was corrected, "Yeremiel" or "Jeremiel". I looked it up and got all excited because there actually was an angel named "Jeremiel" in ancient tradition. The next thing I know, my guardian angel says, "No. Order of." So, IF there is an angel named Jeremiel, my guardian angel isn't him... he is only associated with that order. Long story really.

As for the one you're talking about... I'm certain my guardian angel can put a beat-down on her spirit guide. lol

Take into consideration... Hell isn't original. Satan appoints familiar spirits/spirit guides because it's the model of Heaven as seen in the Guardian Angels. Most don't realize... but Guardian Angels have been serving man long before anyone ever established a connection to a "familiar spirit" or "spirit guide". They are just Satan's counterfeit.

No, I'm saying having a guardian angel, conversing with said angel, giving it a 'name'... this is EXACTLY what is known as having a 'familiar spirit' back in my day. I had several, although I didn't use the term 'angel' to describe them lol.

Does this angel appear to you in visible, human form, as in an actual person that might be mistaken for another human?

Or do you get a 'sense' of their presence, and you just 'seem to know' what information they are imparting to you?

If the latter, I would SERIOUSLY tread carefully. In fact, I would expect you to try the spirits to see whether they are of God...

Also, is there any Scriptural example or basis for having a personal guardian angel (invisible spirit being?) that communicates with you?

He has only appeared as a pillar of light or a spark in the corner of my vision. And I know, treading lightly. Agreed. I take it lightly. Because if he gets out of line, I'm rebuking him and sending him back to wherever he came from to peel potatoes for several millennia. lol

He's not there all the time. Only ever few weeks. I've gone over two months without sensing him before.
