Not necessarily tasteful, but not exactly "gossip." DA could have cropped out the faces, although then we would have missed the great headgear!

I don't agree.
So, if it's for publication and I printed it out and took it to my youth group on Wednesday night and said, "Get a load of this!" That's not gossip? Gossip is when you tear someone down "negatively" for the purpose of putting them down. Talking about something is a totally different matter.

Were we gossiping when we discussed dresses during the election?
It's only gossip now because you don't like that it's about UPC kids.

OH yes, the Amish. Now THEY are modest. Come on.
Undo the culture behind the word and understand the definition.
Is it modest to look like you live in a time period 500 years ago? As a way of life? Surely they are in there own class, but you get the point. We really shouldn't be known for WHAT WE WEAR, that's the opposite of modesty.

Wouldn't that then go back to what MB said about the attitude? Therefore, not everything can be labeled as immodest just because it's noticeable. Admiration can be noticeable.

What is gossip? I thought it was making private matters public? Or spreading rumors?
Critiquing a young couple's outfit is unnecessary, and acting like they've done something wrong for just trying to have some fun is just mean, IMO, but I don't think gossip is the correct label for it.
Gossip would be taking a picture of a person scantily clad in their fenced in back yard, when they thought they were in (relative) privacy, and making it public for whatever reason.
Sharing the picture isn't gossip; slamming the couple for wearing a hilarious outfit? That's mean-spirited.

I think if Pamela Anderson and I were sisters, I would be known for what I wear as well as she. Don't you think? I'm not sure we will be able to get past that.

They are being made fun of here. That is "neg - a - tive". That puts it in the gossip category! Repent, sistah! The Lord is at hand!!! I'm pulling a Mark Y here.
Gossip is when you reflect negatively on your subject with means to harm their character or reputation. That is certainly being done here today.

I think attitude is what Apostle Paul was primarily addressing. I don't think he meant to outlaw nice clothing, or jewelry, he was saying that the spirit is what really counts.
But he did make the statement that women should dress in modest clothing. We have to deal with that. I personally think that by modest there he meant moderate.
And it sounds to me, P.O., like you dress very moderately.
(okay, my husband says it's time to leave)
