I tell our folks to fight against ever backsliding that first time, because once you do, you grease the rails.

It gets easier to do.

For instance, I made reference last night to 3 different individuals PMing me about the thread with GREAT stuff... but they feared others would tear away at their posts.

"In this, brethren, we do not well."

But, honestly, only we can change it...
Yes, I can very well relate to this. I have been so viciously attacked in the past for my views that people are afraid to post a positive response to many of my posts. I too have gotten a lot of personal PM's and e-mails. I always am amazed when someone posts in agreement because I know they are stepping out on a limb.

This is true for some cases...but a true backslider, and not a serial backslider, will not come back unto they are ready for total commitment. Unfortunately we have a group of serial backsliders that pray through in every revival and every campmeeting...they just need the attention

This is mostly why I left the UPC/Apostolic church. I believe there are sincere people in the UPC. I think people can live standards and be right with God, but I couldn't stomach teaching people that standards are taught literally BY the Word of God. They are just traditions based on biblical principles. When the traditions become more important than the Word of God itself and preached as salvational, as they were to me most of my UPC time, I felt better off getting out.

Yes it is. I love that family/church. I believe they are exactly where God needs them for this time and season.

ILG,

This is true but you must also find a church, pray, and visit several assemblies and when you find the right one...you will know. Put your roots down and concentrate on your relationship to God. Don't wait too long because going to church and being active in church is as much a habit as a passion sometimes and you have to choose to do what is right.

Blessings, Rhoni

At no point did the father stop being a father to the Son. Neither does God stop being our father when we backslide. We are out of fellowship with Him, we are rebellious, yet He loves us just the same. When we return to Him, He is there to recieve us as His own... and withholds none of His goodness, none of His blessing, from us. He restores us- wholly and completely- to our former state in Him.

As a young Christian... I fell by the wayside. I spent several months apart from the Lord. But He was always there, dealing with my heart. After a time, I came back to the Lord. He recieved me and I was rebaptized in Jesus Name. After sitting under a pastor and praying alot... God began dealing with me to preach. I obeyed His call, and served as an evangelist for a number of years. My relationship with God was made stronger because of my fall... it didn't weaken my foundation, but, rather, strengthened my roots, and forever established my walk with the Lord. In fact, my latter state with the Lord is stronger than my former.

This confirms what I have said on the issue.
It will not be the same.

And you wouldn't want it to be.

BUT, It can be Far better, or far worse. And that depends soley on you.

You weren't restored to the same as you were, you were brought further, deeper, and stronger. Because you didn't let the enemy convince you it couldnt happen.

You aren't the same as you were, you are better.
