Re: The passing of Rev. Naomi Carter

Yes sister Carter was a wonderful women of God. She lived what she believed.
She always wanted to have a church service when she passed away. WE had song service, and special singing.. Bro Erwin preached a Acts 2:38 message.
Sis, Erwin was Sis Carters close friend growing up and she spoke and did such a wonderful job.. You could feel God so strong. I wouldn't have been surprise if God didn't raise her from the dead....
She was ready to go.. Her husband died a year ago, and she would write down, the Lord was suppose to take us together... She did not fear death. She suffered with recurring brain tumors and they would give her radiation to keep it down.. They had done a few surgery also. The last radiation she had done she told me that she wont go through another one.. That she is ready to be with the Lord. She said that if they Lord wanted her then, she wanted to go gracefully. She was very graceful.. I wish everyone one here could have really known her like I did..
I hope I can be just half the women of God that she was.
I had a dream about her last night, I was in this house that had mountains around, well I opened the door and I saw her walking on this mountain and there was sheep around her.. I yelled for everyone in the house to come and look and we all started speaking in tongues and shouting...
I don't know if that had any meaning. I just never had a dream like that before.
By the way be praying for her daughter. IF it wasn't for her daughter and God, Sis Carter wouldn't have made it this long, but she is having a very hard time dealing with this,, she had stopped her life just to take care of her mother.
I know God will bring her though this, but she could still use your all prayers.
I could go on and on, but I wont.
God bless you all,
louwho

Re: The passing of Rev. Naomi Carter

Louwho, Linda's daughter Sandy is a good friend of mine. We graduated together (we were the only ones to graduate from the church school that year) when we lived near Chicago many years ago. We lost track of each other for several years until I contacted her former pastor when he was a missionary in Jordan and he informed me that Linda lived in Bush and at the time, I lived in Herrin!

So I visited Sis. Carter's church not yet knowing that she was Sandy's grandma and touched base with Linda and the next week, Sandy was coming for a visit. I've seen her a couple times since then, but I no longer live in the area. We will keep in touch, but I would have loved to have seen her and her family last week.

As for me, I'm not sure you know who I am and I don't believe we've officially met, but you know lots of people I know and you and I have talked, although a couple years ago.

In fact, you are still on my MSN list...LOL! I just don't use it much anymore.

I know Sis. Kyzar.. she use to preach for my grandmother when she was a young girl.... She is from Jayess, Ms and was raised under old Bro. Carroll Martins ministry.. later given to Rev. Steve Hancock

Sis. Kyzar is a sure nuf preacher, she operates in the same style as Peggy Richards did... lots of the same mannerism.....

I believe it is the same.

His family was from Brookfield, around Chicago.

He married a girl from Jenks, Oklahoma ... I think her first name was Pam but I'd have to dig my old yearbooks out to remember her last name.

Just an observation ... the Illinois District produced a lot of "women preachers."

In addition to those mentioned, I preached a revival way back in 1980 for Lawrence Jones in Effingham, Il.

I forget his wife's name but she was a fairly well-known woman preacher there in Illinois.

Re: The passing of Rev. Naomi Carter

Yes, Terry Erwin is from Brookfield, Il. originally. His dad was pastor and many years the Illinois District UPC secretary. His dad was also a math teacher. His mother Lois, also a speaker at the funeral, was also a preacher and a very good one if I might add. I have known Bro. Eugene and Sis. Lois Erwin since I was a little baby. Terry now pastors in Oklahoma, and is also a presbyter with the Oklahoma district. Sis. Lois Erwin has since retired and moved to Oklahoma also after the passing of her husband. The Erwins were and still are some great people. My wife and I also preached in Effingham. We held two revivals...one in June of 1975 and one in the fall of 1977. The Jones were great folks. She always served fresh strawberries with the meals for or/and with dessert. We had some good services in those days with them. What memories!

Re: The passing of Rev. Naomi Carter

Was Sister Namoi the lady that traveled with the other sister... her name escapes me right now but anyhow, she was locked in a dungeon or convent???? If so I met her at General conf. a few years ago.
she would sit in the WOF booth and sell the book about life in the
convent.

All these ladies were amazing. how come there aren't too
many of them around anymore?
