2 - Job situation - there are opportunities for teaching at international schools that will hire before we get there. Otherwise, we would need to move first, then find one. Obviously, the first is preferred.

3 - Church - there are numerous oneness churches in Santiago...we would like to become involved with the one that is God's will for us. I understand that Chile has a new UPC missionary; I was there before he came, so I never met him.

4 - Some of my family has similar reactions as StMark, but they're used to me by now, I think. Still, homesickness is a very real feeling, and it's not just me anymore. My wife and I are both excited about the prospect, though.

5 - Health - we would like to have more children, and can obviously not afford to fly back to the USA every time we have a kid. So good medical care and a job with insurance would be good. Jobs in Chile generally offer both.

Not sure you asked for all that, but thanks for asking
We're moving from Wisconsin to Arizona and we have friends/family/co-workers with the same reaction as well. It really is a very small % of the population that is ever willing to change their environment, then many of those who are not willing have to justify to themselves why they are not -which manifests itself in the "What?? Why would you want to do that??" reaction. You would not believe some of the hostile reactions we have gotten to simply moving to another state. I can't imagine if we were leaving the Country.

No joke. I've been prepping the family for a while, with various comments and actions Still not going to be easy. It's probably the hardest part of the whole ordeal.

We LOVE the heat. And everyone hear complains about the cold, but then seem to complain even louder when told that we're doing something about it (by moving).

SequinsForJesus,

Sounds like a great adventure! I love to travel and there are a few places in the world I would love to live in for a year or two. In particular England, Scotland and Australia or New Zealand. Unfortuentely in the last couple of years the company I work for has sold their operations in those countries to concentrate on Russia and Eastern European countries.

HA! You obviously know absolutely nothing about Chile. Perhaps you're talking about Brazil or Venezuela
