Re: Should We Have Music In The Church Today......
Well some will use this
Ephesians 5:19-20 (KJV)19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
and this
Colossians 3:16 (KJV) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
saying we shouldnt use music,
and while I am not sure how much I agree with that, we do need to think what is our motive in using music, Is it to glorify God or to entertain?
just my 2 cents

The word "psalm" original meaning is to sing accompanied by the plucking of a harp. So it appears there is scripture for "music" in church.

As Pastor...
No Music...You would still have a job.....
No Tithes....You would need to get a job.....
I prefer the tithe route...whether there is music or not...

What do you define as 'this new rock and roll' ? Can you give us a few song titles?

There is scriptural evidence that Jesus participated in music:
Quote:
|
Mat 26:30 And when they had sung a hymn, they went out into the mount of Olives.
|
I don't know about tithes though...

Can't put it into words - titles? It's not, amazing grace, or thank God for the blood, or there'e just something about that name, etc.
