A "little" old fashioned. Emphasis on little because I'm still too young to be old.

I like singing old hymns of the faith.
I like listening to "oldies" on the radio.
I like hearing church bells ring on Sundays.
I like listening to a REAL piano instead of a synthesized keyboard in church.
I like old fashioned anointed singing and preaching.
I like sitting with my wife, children and their spouses, and grandchildren all together on a pew in church.

But....I've learned to roll with a lot of the new stuff!

Amen!

There is no problem with that... especially when we realize that the younger generation did not come in the same skin and find ourselves understanding that.

The gospel is the message. As long as the message remains intact the methods can change to adapt to varying societal and generational adaptations.

Too often people attach methods irreversibly to the message and can find themselves judging the message as inadequate when, in reality, it is a different method that they are truly disagreeing with.

This is so true. The method that reaches me will not necessarily reach my children and grandchildren.

I'll never forget taking my children and a few of their friends to a Kirk Franklin concert in the late 90's. My opinion at the time was that his music was more entertainment instead of true worship. It was more about the beat than about the words, etc.

The concert didn't really do anything for me, but before it was over, my children and theirs friends had tears rolling down their faces and walked up to the front to pray.

I had an epiphany! The songs that reached me, will not reach this new generation!
