Quote:
Acts 6:1-2
(1) And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration. (2) Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

I just noticed the word
"tables - trapeza".
Somehow I thought it was referring to food, but looking again the word
"tables" also refers to a place where money is kept or managed.
I ran across this:
Even Barclay Newman's has "TRAPEZA, HS f table; food, meal;
bank (Lk
19:23)"
NAS Greek has: "TRAPEZA trapeza; prob. from 5064 and 3979; a table,
dining table: —bank(1), food(1), table(9), tables(4)."
L&N have: "57.215 TRAPEZA, HS f:
a place where money is kept or
managed or where credit is established — ‘bank.’ διὰ τί
οὐκ ἔδωκάς μου τὸ ἀργύριον ἐπὶ
τράπεζαν; (DIA TI OUK EDWKAS MOU TO ARGURION EPI
TRAPEZAN?)‘
why didn’t you put my money in the bank?’ Lk 19:23.
Luke 19:23Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the
bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
Bank is the same word as
tables in the Strongs.

τράπεζα
trapeza
trap'-ed-zah
Probably contracted from G5064 and G3979; a table or stool (as being four legged), usually for food (figuratively a meal); also a counter for money (figuratively a broker’s office for loans at interest): - bank, meat, table.

Thought this was interesting. I think I had a mental picture of the men appointed as serving food, but actually they seem to be distributing money.
