Great verse. Demands careful application, however.

Why don't we just get on down to where the rubber meets the road instead of just him hawing around.

Some want to do away with the current "holiness standards" that the UPCI has held to for years without end. They feel that we must get with the age we are in, and become more user friendly. I got news, there is always someone more liberal that thinks you are the "Borg" no matter how liberal you are.

While you are making your attempts to "free" yourself from the evil Apostolic Borgs, be careful. The pendulum swings just as far over to the other side just as far over as it was on the first side.

The problem with factions dividing from the body because the body is too liberal or too conservative is that once they have separated they then create within their new body the same lines of division. It may take a while, but it will happen.

Matt,

I believe in holiness with all my heart, but this is not a holiness issue any longer. This is about an insatiable thirst for power and control. It is about controlling the direction of this organization. There is a desire to melt every original and creative thought into oblivion.

I will rail against it at every opportunity. This is not about good holy men of God who take stands based on biblical principle. This is about hijackers.

I have been praying that God will remove the scales from the eyes of every person who is currently unable to see that there are some among us that have an agenda that is crushing and cruel. These same people have a desire to build their own kingdom instead of God's.

These are sincere thoughts devoid of any animosity and anger. I am truly, truly concerned.

This sounds like something I would like to have told during a 10 minute session before the General Board of the UPC!

So very true. Those that love division will make sure it is always by their side.

Sure it is but not with out cause. It only matters what and to what extent you choose to stigmatize normal behavior as sin deserving of hell-fire damnation or even worse, separation from the fellowship.
