I believe many do and the question is for the older married ones too.

Nothing wrong at all! I think it is the right thing to do...I just wasn't sure anyone did this any more.

I have reason to believe that I may be confronted with the question soon and would love some seasoned advice.

Me knocking his head off if he hits my daughter probably won't scare him too much since I'm 5' 2'' and he's 6' 4".....lol!

However, I have a MEAN look I can give him.

I told him my reason for asking this was that any vow entered into before God, concerning two becoming one flesh, would certainly need a genuine shared agreement for who would arbitrate the contentious 'death of self' that is part of God's perfecting process.
That was very good.

My dad was more temporal/materialistically minded and concerned I guess.

Oh Renda! I had no idea you were that short. I always thought of you as being taller for some reason.

My DIL is is about the same height as you -- maybe a little shorter and my son is 6'3! It's kind of like ..... how's the weather up there? LOL.

Any saying that has stuck with you through the years?

Or when your future son-in-law asked for your daughter's hand in marriage, did you give any advice or charge for him?
When I asked my FIL, I had done my best to prepare by developing a story as to what I had planned for the future, accurate or not, at least it showed him I was thinking about it.

I love my FIL, he and I are very close...

Incidentally, today is my 19th wedding Anniversary with his daughter.
