I go everytime we have service. The congregation has this crazy idea that the pastor should be there.
We have one service on Sunday, and Wednesday night Bible study.
We had a service once without our pastor. It was weird, but good. We sure missed him though.

Not possible around here. This area is either cultish, Amish, Catholic, or Lutheran.
I'm not interested in any of them.
But my attendance issue will be changing soon, I hope.
Well, isn't there another Christian family you know that you could have some meetings with? I thought you lived close to LadyRev. What about her family?
I was thinking today- When I was a new christian, it was preached that you come to church every time the church doors open. And they were opened a lot - at least 4 times a week. Sunday morning, Sunday night, Wednesday night, and Friday night. That was the minimum- Then you had revivals, and special services. Now it seems that we do not have many revivals, and only one service on some Sundays. I love to go to church, but I do not feel the need to go to church as much or as often. I have a time at my house for private Bible study, and devotion, not that it takes the place of church. I am interested in how much you attend church- so I thought I would do a poll.
I was raised you go to church everytime the doors are open.. I go to church once on Sunday (sometimes twice) and then midweek.
It is so odd for me to attend a church that has three services on Sunday... and as it is told by pastor "I preach the same sermon at all three services".
It is actually meant to pick and choose the best time for you on Sunday and go... it is taking me a while to get used to. I usually attend the 2:30 service on Sunday, but thinking about changing to the 9:00am for the summer.
Another thing I think is odd is our revivals are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday... never over the weekend.

That's because it is increasingly harder and harder to get people to come on the weekends when they are off work.
By the way, I hear Eddie preach the same sermon at 9 AM and 11 AM. It's never the same at all though. He preaches with very few notes, so he just adlibs most of it. If he were one of those guys that write out and practically read their sermons, I would go nuts. Thankfully in the Sun. evening service in Cordova, it's a different sermon. LOL!

well I have a feeling that every service is not the same... he may attempt the same sermon, but I am sure it has differences. JM is a pretty good preacher.
I don't like to miss things that happen in the church, so when I hear someone talking about the "good" morning service... I think I need to get to the morning one... then I know I will want to stay for the next and I will be there all day long.
I guess I understand the revival services... that does make sense. The services are well attended, even during the school year.

There's her and her husband. We've had Bible studies in the past when I was living at her house a couple years ago, but their work schedules along with my own won't allow for that any longer.
But Bible studies aren't what I need. I know all about the Bible. I need fellowship.

That's what I am talking about, fellowship. The "services" we are planning on having are going to be a lot more than just a Bible study. We've talked about singing some praise songs, laying hand on and praying for each other, doing Bible studies, and even visiting churches when finances and schedules will allow.
I go on Sunday morning and Wednesday night Bible study. I would like to start attending the Sunday evening Spanish service as well, when I can get one hand free.
