Re: Need some ideas from the ladies
I voted no only because I thought I wouldn't like it. However, if you ask her and she thinks it is a good idea than go for it. Considering she is 20 and you are early 30, she might think it was a sweet idea or she may get the idea that you think she is still young. My husband is 7 years older than me and if he would have suggested that, I would have taken offense because I would have thought he was thinking I was still young.
If Christmas trees are ok with you both, going and seeing them might be a good date. We have a festival downtown and different groups can decorate a tree to go to charity and they win prizes. It is a big deal and there are 100's of trees to see.

i would go out to eat then if you go to the mall and pass the shop, you could ask..."want to build a bear" casually. i would not plan it as the date.

Re: Need some ideas from the ladies
My daughter had a boyfriend once who took her to "Build a Bear" for a date. She absolutely loved it and kept the bear until she was getting ready to get married, when she got rid of all the "other boys" stuff. I think it's a fun idea for a first date.

Re: Need some ideas from the ladies
I think it sounds fun, but I agree with those who said it shouldn't be THE date. Eat out, make it part of the night, but not the main attraction.

Anyway come close to Christmas time, I was wondering if the following was a decent idea or what yall might suggest for ideas for that or just general dating ideas.
Especially considering I have been out of the loop of dating for over 13 years.
I was thinking about closer to christmas, taking her to the mall to get a build a bear project of her choice. Would this be an appropiate idea for the basis of a date considering that she is 20 and I am in my early 30's?

You sound like you anticipate the relationship to go beyond a first date - so, yes, if you feel that you are going to be good friends - do it.
Be careful what you give her if you are not sure. Women can become more attached than a man, in most cases.

Hey! I can't help it!
I'm just too sensitive and sentimental when it comes to cuddly bears, or cute little animals.
All I can think of is how I would feel if I went on a date, got to build a wonderful little bear that I would immediately be smitten with, and love it, and cuddle it, and hug it...only to have to give it up if things didn't work out and it became a constant reminder of a failed relationship.

Re: Need some ideas from the ladies
Some of the comments did make me laugh!
The build a bear project, wouldn't be the only thing to do that day, just one of them. And of course I would be coming home with a bear myself!
We've already been out once, and friday I plan to cook dinner and and watch the first madagascar movie at the house or bring it over to her house for her and her family.
I hope it goes futher, but if it doesn't- I think I will still have a good friend.
