I don't agree with you on a lot of things, RR, but on this point I agree wholeheartedly.

Most that I know the pain, rejection, and bitterness only started after they left the movement. It isn't easy to leave what you have always known and until you have left will you ever really understand how bad it really was.

After I had left it was probably 6 months before I realized how much healthier my life and family was. I was happy, satisfied, and I could finally rest in the Lord. My anger didn't start until I had left the UPC and started looking back.

Bro.. I somewhat left and came back... so I can understand anger, frustration and disappointment because i was there for a time...but then I realized "who" I was serving and for a time it wasn't God...but thank God for mercy and grace who caught me just in time and I found a place of health and wellness that brought me back to where I needed to be in HIM.....

I guess if people leave God then that would be an issue. I realize that there are many who don't like standards and rules and leave out of rebellion. You can leave legalism all you want but if you don't get a hold of God nothing will change. God has drawn me nearer to him since I have left. I didn't even realize the desparate shape I was in while until I had a chance to look back.

My anger comes from my own guilt of staying with and making excuses for things that I knew were not right. However, there comes a time when I have to forgive those who didn't know any better. I have forgiven and will work on forgetting but as long as I feel like the gospel is not the center of the teaching I will do everything I can to convince people of truth.

If all you have is a religion and you leave that religion you will fail. You have to replace that religion with God. It is that simple.

Oh yeah, that, lol!

I guess that should be Number 6 on the list of things AFF didn't know about me, but now the whole world does, lol!

Mainly we disagree on one single point, but it manifests itself in many of your posts, and that is - I do not agree with you that everyone who leaves the UPCI, or "standards" as we're wont to say, is headed down a wrong path, slippery slope, pathway to hell, etc.

But, other than that, you're a pretty level headed guy!

Of course the doctrine changes. I couldn't imagine the doctrine not changing. I followed the standards a long time after I realized the doctrinal error. I can hide the doctrine but I can't hide shorts or my wife's cut hair.
