For example, health care. Most don't realize that you're already paying for the over 50 million people who don't have health insurance...that's why your premiums are through the roof. That's why the insurance companies increase the premiums you and I pay, to offset this loss.

At least in a national health care system EVERYONE would pay SOMETHING towards their health care. It would also unshackle business from this expense and allow them to do what they do best...business.

If you don't want a universal government plan to be available, the only other option would be to deny health care services to anyone who wasn't insured or who didn't have money in hand.

As explained by one politician,

Universal health care will cost you nothing.
If you are employed, your employer will pay for it.
If you are not employed, the government will pay for it.

That's about the simplest explanation I've heard.
