Re: Similarities between Lincoln and Obama
I just knew this would turn into a President of the Unites States bashing thread. You guys are soooo predictable. What if Obama came on here and started a "Taxpayer Bashing Thread?" How would you feel? It works both ways you know. Don't you guys have any respect?

I am sure Obama would have PLENTY to say about all those selfish citizens that make HIS life so difficult on a daily basis!

Re: Similarities between Lincoln and Obama
Speaking of Lincoln. When I was in the 6th grade we saw a movie at school about the assasination of Abraham Lincoln. I had not seen a movie before. I had seen shows on tv but not often being that we did not have one. So a movie was something else to me. I went home crying. My brother laughed at me. Could not believe I would cry over a man who had been killed over 100 years prior. My mom was trying very hard to be understanding and correct my older brother for making fun of me but she was having a very hard time not laughing herself. =)

Cool list. Illinois is probably one of the few connecting points.
I am a huge fan of Lincoln, and now for your public service announcement...
If you are ever in the Springfield, IL area, do stop and see the Lincoln tourist attractions.
The house he lived in has been preserved, the tomb and a really neat re-creation of that era...Salem Village located nearby...it would be a fun and educational visit.

Been there, done that and want to do it again. In Decatur, Il. there is a museum that has a good display on Lincoln along with the log court house where he practiced law. The museum is in the school building where I attended 6,7 and 8th. grades. Well worth seeing. It is called The Macon County History Museum and Prairie Village.
No Lincoln did't visit the school while I was a student there!!
