Not hosting a watch night service this year. Had a couple of invitations to come to one, but bowed out this year. My wife and I have said we should be in the bed by 12, we haven't done that in 32 years of marriage!
If still up and awake, we will be praying together. If not, we will pray before going to bed.
I'll be there Sunday, hopefully. I missed last night because I was ill-- so ill I left work early, went home and went to sleep-- for about 14 hours.
I'm resting tonight too.
So if you're not going to church, what will you be doing? Where will you be at Midnight?
I haven't been awake at the new year in, at least, 20 years. No watch night services for me....ever!! It's just the ticking of the clock. It happens 60 times a minute, 4 million times a day. Who cares. Bah humbug. I'm sleepy!
My wife and I have not gone out of the house on New Years Eve for several years. It is referred to as "Amateur Drunks Night" and we're probably better off not being on the road any where near those celebrating.
Our church does not have a New Years Eve service but was having a social night.
We usually watch the ball drop on Times Square then kiss each other and wish each other a Happy New Year. This year we have two grandkids spending the night, one just turned 8 and the other will be 4 in January. It's been a pretty quiet night.
Best wishes and God's blessing in 2010 to all who are still up and reading this.
I got off work early, so the girls and I went to see a movie... then went to eat mexican and back to the theater to see "Blind side" I really liked it.
Last year our church had a party and prayed at midnight... but this year we are having a dinner on Sunday afternoon.

Sam, you have a 4 and 8 year old at your house and things are quiet??? Please tell me how to do that!!! Unless they are asleep, I have never known a 4 and 8 year old to be quiet one minute!!
Oh I've already checked it out. They are a great group of people. For 4 months out of the year the church I go to doesn't have a Sunday Night Service and we go there then etc.
But their night is centered a lot around food, fun, fellowship... and, while I know that would be a great time to go, I kinda feel like I would be crashing their party. I know... it's crazy.
But I'll be back over there soon. They are a great group of people with a great pastor.
Service was wonderful!! Beautiful worship, the choir sang 3 songs, a visiting elder from Kentucky preached...he was very good. Following his message, Bishop Baker read from the Scriptures and we received Communion.
Service started at 7 and we were home before 10...drove through freezing rain on the way down, and safely dodged a couple of drivers who were '3 sheets to the wind' on the way home.
