Re: Revolutionary vs. Rebellious

LOL...lovin' the head slap Prax. (NCIS is a great show). With regards to being revolutionary or rebellious. I'm sure the P.S. (pharisees and sadducees) crew felt that Christ was rebellious. But, I agree with MissinaryMary it can be a matter of perspective. Yet, even beyond this point many are judged wrongly and called rebellious as a means to keep others from following suit. Thus, you can be labeled as rebellious in order to halt a revolution. There are those that do not believe in the "paying" of tithes. Well, one of my former Pastor's made a statement that "if anyone is telling you that tithing is not required that is a lie from the devil". This is a rather large congregation and it would be a financial catastrophe if a majority of the congregation shared in this same view. I see the statement as a way to halt this belief. Cast a shadow over people and others will become fearful and act on that fear.

I agree, NewWine.

I think I agree too, but I can't quite make out everything NewWine said.

Re: Revolutionary vs. Rebellious

I have been pondering this for the last couple of days, and I think it may come down to this.

What is the purpose in someone's heart?

I can be revolutionary without being rebellious. It isn't easy, that is for sure!! But I do believe it is possible to still be loving, kind, and tolerant... while at the same time remaining revolutionary.

As I type, the thought comes to mind that perhaps one needs to focus on Christian conduct when you realize you are being revolutionary. I would hope the focus on Christian conduct would stop the "natural" (is it natural?) move towards first feeling and then being rebellious.

Peter was revolutionary to go and preach to Gentiles at a time that people thought this gospel message was only for the Jews. Didn't Jesus himself tell the Samariatan women that he was sent to the lost sheep of Israel? Was Peter being rebellious? No, God had to speak to him in a dream and he wrestled with the decision of what he was proceeding to do... because it was revolutionary!

It appears that there is a large amount of people who are wrestling with what God really wants them to do. Everything from standards to doctrinal issues are being put on the questioning block in an effort to determine what really is important for 2010.

I would venture to say that if there is a revolutionary path, that on either side of that path is the ditch of rebellion. Even a slight curve can put one in the ditch. Obviously, caution is of the essence... but how else to proceed?

We simply must try to find the will of God in 2010.
