I don't think that Gary was that talented of an actor outside of his Arnold character, but he really did belong to a small group of actors who suffered from the worst form of typecasting. They become associated with a character that they would never separate from again. With Gary it was "Arnold", but others who suffered similar fates were the entire cast of Gilligans Island and some of the cast of the Brady Bunch.
