Re: Was it necessary to repeal DADT?

So a guy could pretend he's gay and be allowed to shower with women.

Re: Was it necessary to repeal DADT?

Good news. Next step, give them civil ceremonies and allow their partners to have the same rights that a married couple would have.

Won't that have to be repealed if gay marriage is recognized in the Military?

and

who decided that was "unnatural"?

Re: Was it necessary to repeal DADT?

So, what about GLBT?
How would that be accommodated with housing, showering, rest rooms, etc?

Re: Was it necessary to repeal DADT?

No discussion on sleeping/showering accomodations, yet DADT was repealed and approved.

Health care form bill was never read through thoroughly (as we've discovered recently), yet it was signed into law.

I'm already seeing a problem here...

If something is going to be discussed in Washington, please for the sake of the people, read through it or plan the necessary accomodations before signing ANYTHING into law. And that goes for anything and everything. I'm right down the middle, hence my name TheIndependent.

Sincerely,
TheIndependent

I'd want to know if I was a fellow military person who is going to use showers and changing rooms where a homosexual would be. I would not want to be there! Sorry.

Well, they are already showering together now and there are no issues. What more is there to discuss? lol

Barney Frank had a good response to that question:

Re: Was it necessary to repeal DADT?

And as to the original post, yes, it was necessary. There is no reason to discriminate against homosexuals serving in the military.

I think they're going to have to create homosexual and lesbian quarters. Like you pointed out, they already do so for men and women. I can't imagine someone isn't going to complain about showering with someone who is attracted to their gender.
But if there is a problem with gay men showering with straight there would be just as much with gay men showering with gay men...maybe straight men can shower with lesbians..except I doubt a lesbian wants a man leering at her

And for all they know they've already been showering with gay people
