Congress fulfilled Gingrich's Contract promise (which laid out ten policies that Republicans promised to bring to a vote on the House Floor during the first hundred days of the new Congress) to bring all ten of the Contract's issues to a vote within the first 100 days of the session, even though most legislation was initially held up in the Senate. Over the objection of liberal/progressive interest groups and President Clinton, who called it the 'Contract on America', many aspects of the proposal were implemented in subsequent legislation.

By 1998, Gingrich had become a highly visible and polarizing figure in the national public's eye, making him a target for Democratic congressional candidates across the nation. His national approval rating was 45% in April 1998, although his local approval was undiminished, and was reelected to his seat.

Poverty: Newt would prohibit welfare to minor mothers and deny increased AFDC for additional children born while on welfare. He supports less spending on welfare and establishing work requirements. He thinks welfare should only last 2 years.

Gingrich has two daughters from his first marriage. Kathy Gingrich Lubbers is president of Gingrich Communications, and Jackie Gingrich Cushman is an author, conservative columnist, and political commentator whose books include 5 Principles for a Successful Life, co-authored with Newt Gingrich.

Energy and the Environment: Newt would end the 'scare tactics' and drill in Alaska.

A 1980 memo from then-freshman House member Gingrich may be the original inspiration for Ronald Reagan's 'are you better off than you were four years ago?' line from a presidential debate the same year.

Education: Newt insists that failing schools must change and he supports charter schools. He would provide students at hopeless schools with private school scholarships.

Will Callista be the first FLOTUS who was sleeping with a married man? Great example for America. Next we will have two men as POTUS and FLOTUS. Our debate will be - Who is taking on the woman's role and who is taking on the man's? Downward spiral of our moral values.

During Newt's tenure as Speaker, he represented the public face of the Republican opposition to President Bill Clinton.

Re: CBS Debate Tonight!

I will vote for someone on the basis of these 3 things.

1. Their abortion position.
2. Their second amendment position.
3.Their position on homosexuality.

So far Rick Perry would have my vote above the others. Some of them would meet my criteria of the 3 issues but Rick Perry is the only one who publicly called for fasting and prayer and humbling ourselves before Jesus Christ, then shared the stage of the "Response" with the IHOP Ministry team.
