I'm assuming you meant "feeling odd" - - I don't think you've slid the slippery slope that quickly!

I would imagine that not having TWO services on a Sunday must feel like your about to bust open the gates of Hell and allow the evil within to run rampant over your lives, but I suppose knowing your having a service tomorrow night must help the guilt a tiny bit.

Re: Feels Odd This Morning
I have to agree about that odd feeling, Bro. Epley. Back in July, our church had a fifth Sunday, which meant that we only had church in the morning and a got together at the Pastor's for most of the afternoon. It felt very strange indeed (one would think that as I work many Sunday mornings I would feel differently, but it was a very strange feeling).
I am not sure what is going to happen on Sunday. Church is going to be cancelled, which means that I will be travelling an hour to be in service. That will be a lot of fun though.

I'm so glad you cleared that up, I was deffinately misinterpreting it, and being shocked.

Re: Feels Odd This Morning
As one of those old time Pentecostals who has "gone charistmatic" a long time ago I have absolutely zero guilt over not going to church twice on Sunday! That is one of those traditions of men that always wore me out. I enjoy the one service so much more.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I read somewhere that about half of UPC does only one service, or two back to back services in the morning.
NoW... I just need to find myself in that half...

Re: Feels Odd This Morning
Our church went to only one service on Sundays a few years back. Our Pastor pushed this insane, crazy, progressive idea that we should *gulp* spend some extra time with our Families!
