When the carnality imposes itself upon us and has it's way through the decision center of the mind, then that inner man is not content and will work until peace is found. Now we see where religion comes into humanity's life style because it can bring self peace even though it has not changed the nature of man in his inner being.
Most people live a good life in the sight of others. Often doing things and giving of themselves, just so they can feel and think they are good people.
Those who have been transformed by a higher power feel good about themselves because it is in their nature and it does therefore come naturally.
