Re: New International Version
Zondervan includes Oneness Pentecostalism in their Guide to Cults book. I find that a lot more insulting then their parent company publishing trash. Walmart sells pornographic material, I still shop there. There are just not enough businesses that support Christian ethics and morals anymore to be able to avoid using some ungodly company but I don't have to support one that deliberately calls my faith a cult.
Oh and I like The Christian Bible and the NASB.
And the Bible is more gender neutral then one might think if they were spoon fed the KJV

And btw, I always thought Zondervan was a Christian company?
But of course I can't back that up with FACT.
Is that a fact????

yes I can but I figured most people are intelligent enough to know what the word publisher meant. Does it matter if Zondervan is Christian or not? Who translated it? Do you know?
Publisher: a person or company whose business is the publishing of books, periodicals, engravings, computer software, etc
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/publisher
Translator: Someone who translates
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/translators
What else do you need to know?

I am so happy you pointed that out to me. Did not have a clue!
And as far as a company "being Christian", which means the owners or shareholders are Christians....don't you think that should make a difference as to what would be published (what is that?) by that company?

You think Christians can operate their businesses as if they were NOT Christians, for instance, should a Christian operate a video store where they rent out porno movies....uh? ...free enterprise...capitalistic system?
In our area a fellow operated a magazine distributing business (what are magazines?), he found out there were porno mags in the system and he kicked them out.

Really....porno at Walmart?
Never saw it, but I will ask next time I'm in there!
If they do, I will never shop there again. Period.

Re: New International Version
(Here, we're a big MultiNat, and we're selling porn over there, and we're printing this..."Bible" over here, nothing to see, move along)
The NIV being biblecc's default translation is my chief complaint with them.
And I could no longer shop at Wally World after returning from the Mid East, and recollecting what we used to have...

What do you consider pornographic?
My opinion is that R rated movies with full frontal nudity and simulated scenes of sexual intercourse are pornographic and yes they sell them and they are not even hidden in a back room. Raunchy magazines with nearly naked models showing much more than could ever be construed as biblically decent... they have those too, right on the front check out counters. My point is that just about every business is worldly and controlled by profit. If you banned all that are unethical, etc. you would be hard pressed to buy food, clothing or fill up your car.
It is one of the reasons I grow nearly all my own food. I do not agree with big Ag poisoning humans to turn a profit, or with animals being tortured to feed me. So I am not saying don't take a stand but realize that things like pornography go much further than little places with a back room and if you really want to make a statement against pornography with your money you will have to sacrifice past just not buying a certain version of the bible. Indeed it will affect where you shop, what you watch, etc.
