No, it is NOT reverse racism.
The NAACP was formed back in the day when there was nothing to help people of color.
And regarding the theme of the thread...if anyone read the comments at the end of the article, they would see that several people said that the award should not have been based on race, and that the young White male should have received the scholarship...
And they began their comments by saying, "I am Black, but..."

I, for one understand that these organizations were necessary - very much so, at one time.
That all races are starting to understand we have outgrown those divisions of the past is also a good thing. I do not believe the NAACP started out as anything less than a good and noble thing.

Race based quotas are reverse racism plain and simple, qualifications, not color should rule.

I wish that there was never such a thing called race...unless it is plainly just the human race.
People from centuries past, maybe millenniums past declared people who did not resemble the same physical color as they, sub-human and passed it down. We are still reeling from the repercussions of our ancestors condescending attitudes and superiority fallacies.

There aren't any black only colleges.
Whites can apply and those who are accepted are usually given a minority-based scholarship.
