Re: Need cell phone advice

In your opinion, which is the better phone...

Apple's iphone 5 or Samsung's Galaxy S3?

I will be updating soon from just a regular flip phone
and thinking about buying a smart phone.

Don't fall for it!! You don't need a smart phone. I went back to a basic phone. I'm only using the android at the moment because I needed to use GPS. When I insert the similar card and turn on the phone the AT&T network AUTOMATICALLY adds a $30 data plan. Most features can be removed via the website. To removed the data plan I have to call and speak with a sales rep. I hate the elevator music, so I haven't called them as of yet.

Anyway, you don't need a smart phone. They are time consuming. There was life before text and the net!

I last had a Galaxy 2, and just switched back to iPhone (5). Liked them both. iPhone 5 battery life is really impressive comparatively. I also am using Siri a lot. Voice recognition on all platforms is starting to get ridiculously accurate. I dicate 80% of emails and texts now.

Also depends on what "ecosystem" you have with other devices if any (eg., any tablets, etc). I have a lot of Apple stuff now, so just makes it nice to have coherence.

Re: Need cell phone advice

iphone vs droid seems to be preference. Once you get used to one makes it hard to change, i.e. wife. The only reason I have a smart phone is because my wife had one and only cost me 15 more a month. Phone itself was free because contract was up. If I were only using one phone on the plan, I would opt out of smart phone since you would probably save 40 bucks a month. I rarely use the data package. You can negotiate a lot of things person to person on the phone. I have At&t.

Re: Need cell phone advice

I have used straight talk for probably 2 years now. Works great for me. May not be what someone needs that needs a family plan, but saved me a chunk of money each month to have unlimited talk and text.
