Did the deputy have the right to taze this woman? With the details left out (on-duty or off-duty Deputy, imminent risk of danger to self or others) I'd say that municipality had better get ready for a lawsuit.
If that municipality argues that the Deputy was not acting in an official capacity, then I'd go after the Deputy for unlawful assault and battery.

reminds me of something many many years ago.
I had preached in a small store front church here in Cincinnati.
Our oldest son will be 53 in a few months. Back then he was a toddler and told us after the service he didn't like "them jamborines."
I don't know if this is the same service where some good sister hugged my wife and got her hairnet caught on my wife's glasses and pulled the glasses off my wife's face.
This may have been the same service we drove 20-30 miles round trip during a severe cold spell in a car with holes in the floor boards and a non-operational heater. I think the offering was a little over $2.00 in change. This church had one restroom. It was behind the platform and the folks would line up along the side wall of the church next to the platform fidgeting and crossing their legs as they waited in line for access to that rest room. At least the restroom was indoors. A couple years ago I preached at a place that only had an outhouse behind the church.

I read in the comments that the lady had a mental disorder.

if she had a mental disorder, and was not simply an idiot... then tazing was likely the only recourse.
im not being funny here. Mental disorders are cruel things but those suffering cannot control themselves, but have strength beyond what you can imagin if you have never dealt with them. tazing might very well have been the only option.
that being said stupid people doing idiotic things need tazing!

Well I bet the Baptists will be more accepting of us Pentecostals now that we have ceased from casting devils out of people and have embraced tasing the idiots instead.

I say we taser them then pray for them!
BTW - Did you read the article or see the video? She was disrupting the service and they tried to get her to leave. She was tasered by an off duty deputy at the church because she would not stop disrupting the service and leave.
It is clear she has mental issues and the church did the right thing by having ushers or security personnel to try and remove her from the service where she was hindering people from hearing the word.
Do I wish it could have happened peacefully without her being tasered? Of course! Do I condemn them for ending up having to taser her? Of course not. I leave that to bleeding heart liberals like my friend German who apparently believes force is never to be used in life.

Titus2woman on AFF
"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.
"It was not until long after, when former Holiness preachers had become part of us, that strict plainness of dress began to be taught.
"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

I agree with the use of force, violence, killing to preserve life, only when necessary.
