How do I find out what type of video format my home videos are?

can you transfer video from camcorder to computer? just place mouse over video icon and filename will appear. the last 3 or 4 digits of filename after dot is your file format. .avi, .divx, .camv, etc here is a list of file extensions or formats: http://www.fileinfo.com/filetypes/video once you know your file format just google "how to convert (your file format) to dvd" make sure you find a converter program that has burn function or you may need a separate burn program after converting.

Gave it a try, but when inserting dvd disk it says insert writable disk. Makes me wonder if I got right disk for my burner. Also,I use data button form home videos to burn or the DVD maker one?

i don't know how many times someone has to repeat things to you but if you google "convert mts to dvd" there are many links to find the info you need. dvdrw just means your drive can read and write dvds, you just need blank dvd to burn not data discs.

Well I wasn't sure what if I was doing it right to know if MTS was actually format. I'm a total rookie here. Hovering over icon with mouse didn't work so wasn't sure if properties was right infor or not.
