The main problem is, they do not understand the principal of dividing to multiply. And of course then they couldn't build that bigger church. And might actually have to get a job.
When a Pastor becomes a King over his own little Kingdom, he doesn't want to give his subjects up to another King. I've seen it happen too many times. It usually is not that they are evil. This is the way, that they are taught to function.
