I've heard that analogy, and don't care much for it. It implies an empty room, where there is no love, has evil in it. Is there evil on the moon? And more to the point, it implies that a person who isn't acting in love, even it if is something benign, neutral, and morally irrelevant, is acting in an evil way. Mailing a letter at the post office, doing the grocery shopping, etc.
I find it more accurate to say an evil act is when a person acts selfishly, and in disregard of someone else's well-being or happiness, at that other person's expense in some way.
