Re: Do you carry your gun in church? Should you?
I see nothing wrong with it, Heck, if I Pastored some of the inner city churches Ive been in I would have a gun rack fully stocked built under the pulpit!!!!

Re: Do you carry your gun in church? Should you?
I think this thread will gain a lot of opinions so here's my $.02...
Some people say that if you carry a concealed weapon you're placing your faith in a gun rather than Jesus. But to those I ask if they take medicine, work to pay their bills, or shop at stores for their daily needs. God can/will provide and protect us, but he has also given us a brain and the resources so that we can help ourselves.
I don't like gun free zones particularly because it's an advertisement to the crazies that they can inflict maximum damage with minimal resistance. I think the background checks need to be better and I also think that our nation needs to invest more money in education and mental health research and treatment. Guns are not the issue, people are the issue.
Most carrying people realize that it's an absolute last resort and they pray they'll never have to use it. But, it's better to have it and never need it than to need it and not have it.

Well, that's nice. Kill or be killed.
I think if someone is going to spray a church with bullets it's probably some sort of persecution. Well, supposed to be, anyway...

Peter carried a sword, but Jesus chastised him when he used it......so what should a person make of that?

They're going to tell you that it is because Jesus was going willingly. And thats true because it was time to be delivered to the Sanhedrin.

Everyone wants to go to the OT to support the use of guns in self defense.
There is no teaching of self defense in the New Testament. We were told to turn the other cheek, but they allegorize that.

Re: Do you carry your gun in church? Should you?
Hebrews 10:32-37
32 But call to remembrance the former days, in which, after ye were illuminated, ye endured a great fight of afflictions; 33 Partly, whilst ye were made a gazingstock both by reproaches and afflictions; and partly, whilst ye became companions of them that were so used. 34 For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. 35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. 38

Re: Do you carry your gun in church? Should you?
The only problem I see with it is, the woman who carry their guns in their purses. When ever everyone is at the alter praying or praise worshiping, there is little kids playing in the pews left unattended. It can add up to something bad happening really quick....
