I've seen some very small men that could preach for what seemed like days...

Most hour+ long sermons could be delivered in a very good testimony. There is a good point to be made that can be made very well in 15 minutes or so but years of practice has enabled then (and often trained them) to draw it out an hour or so.

This does not go for lengthy studies with much scriptural context. If a good bible study is being laid out that has much scriptural reference then it can take some time to do that.

But... as I said... the point they are wanting to make in most hour+ long sermons could be told very well in 15 minutes or so.

As I once heard said... "15 minutes is long enough for a good preacher... and too long for a bad one"

I have found people can only stand as much as their backside with let them stand.
I have found when you give out your main thoughts to the people ,and if you find yourself repeating yourself it's time to shut down.

Now I have sat under teaching that was several hours long and was totally captivated the whole time. The entire time he was continuing to develop his thought and it was great and needful of the time spent.

But, quite often, by the time 10-15 minutes has passed we all pretty much know where he is going and what the point is.
