Re: Filled With the Spirit (Saturation) Prayer:
We must crucify "self". We must cease living in the "self" and seek to live in Christ alone. A dead man doesn't seek to obey any body of laws or traditions, they are DEAD. Seeking to obey any list of humanly compiled or contrived laws is a prime indicator that "self" is still very much alive. We must DIE. We must crucify our "self" and our fleshly carnal identities. We must be identified with nothing other than Jesus. We can't be identified with ancient Israel, the ancient Christian church, the countless denominations, churches, or pastors of our world and its history. We must be identified in Christ ALONE.
In sports they say that the secret of the game is to keep your eyes on the ball. See the ball. Feel the ball. BE the ball. In this, our Christian faith, we must keep our eyes upon Jesus. See Jesus. Feel Jesus. BE Jesus.

Good thoughts Aquila. I'll write more later, as I've got things to do.

Re: Filled With the Spirit (Saturation) Prayer:
Lately I've needed to get away and engage in more saturation prayer. I want to be filled, saturated with, consumed by, lost in, overwhelmed with, flooded with, infused with, immersed in, soaking in His Spirit.
It fades as I get caught up in the day to day obligations of this world. Work, family, chores, errands, etc. can leave us slowly depleting the power we've soaked up through saturation prayer. In the past, I discovered that fasting enhances the depth of saturation. It's almost as though we empty ourselves of ourselves and having mortified the flesh through refusing it's appetites we can gain deeper saturation. I need this. I plan on trying to find some time to do just this.

Re: Filled With the Spirit (Saturation) Prayer:
For a period of time I meditated upon the Lord's Prayer three times a day. It was rewarding and a couple times it became a saturation experience. I've found that the best hours of prayer are sunrise, noon, and sunset. I even found a text that I like to meditate upon when entering prayer during these hours...
Psalm 55:17
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice. I do believe this custom of three daily hours of prayer was kept by the early church. The three Biblical "hours of prayer" are specifically the third hour, the sixth hour and the ninth hour of the day, or 9:00 A.M., 12 Noon and 3:00 P.M. ( Acts 2; Acts 3:1; Acts 10:3, 9).
The cleansing of saturation prayer will keep one pure spiritually clean. Imagine if you took a shower three times a day. How clean would you be? If you enter into the cleansing presence of God's Spirit three times a day, your spirit will shine with His light unhindered.
Cleanse and fill me Lord. I need refreshing. I need more of You.

Re: Filled With the Spirit (Saturation) Prayer:
With all the ruckus over men's legalisms, we have to be careful. Sadly, if we do away with legalism some become lost in the dark. They would almost be better off with the legalisms. Grace is often interpreted in a manner wherein the void left by removed legalisms fills with wreckless carnality. We must replace legalism with a spirituality grounded in grace. A spirituality that brings union, power and grace in the Spirit. A spirituality where spiritual transformation through saturation and holiness through Christ in us becomes a reality.
What would make one more holy? Rules about beards, jewelry, dress and codes? Or a true and abiding union of spirit with the Holy Spirit of God ( I Corinthians 6:17)? Christ being in the Father, the Father in Him, and He in us. Oneness is more than a Christology... it's a pneumatological soteriology that discovers a spiritual holiness of being affecting behavior. Not a legalistic holiness based strictly upon behavior.
Saturate me Lord Jesus. Let me be crucified with you, and yet be alive. Not I who is living, but you who is living through me.

Lord Jesus, allow me now to become as lost in you as a single drop of wine becomes lost in the sea...

Let me experience the limitless depths of your reality, being, and person. Allow me to feel that infinite reality of you within me again.

Let me, my ego, my very identity be evaporated before you as the morning dew evaporates before the light of the rising sun.
