The co-author of Chuck's autobiography is a member of Christ Church Nashville (Ken Abraham) and when Chucks book came out about ten years ago CC had him as a guest speaker on a Wednesday night. The church was completely packed. I didn't realize he was that popular but word has spread he was going to be there and people took advantage of an opportunity to see and hear a celebrity / actor they liked.

"We did not wear uniforms. The lady workers dressed in the current fashions of the day, ...silks...satins...jewels or whatever they happened to possess. They were very smartly turned out, so that they made an impressive appearance on the streets where a large part of our work was conducted in the early years.

"Although Entire Sanctification was preached at the beginning of the Movement, it was from a Wesleyan viewpoint, and had in it very little of the later Holiness Movement characteristics. Nothing was ever said about apparel, for everyone was so taken up with the Lord that mode of dress seemingly never occurred to any of us."

Re: The Faith Of Chuck Norris
When Chuck Norris shows up late for work the boss apologizes for being early.

Re: The Faith Of Chuck Norris
Have you all seen any of the Walker Texas Ranger Episodes where they featured the Lord?

Re: The Faith Of Chuck Norris
i have not, and am judging him on his reputation, which is surely being glorified for his popularity's sake, and which he may detest. I note that he seems quite humble. I am surprised that you like him, and now feel like i should watch one. If one stands out in your mind, please post the episode number or something? ty

Re: The Faith Of Chuck Norris
Of course this series went away many years ago. It ran 8 full seasons. There were only I think two seasons where they really highlighted the Lord so that was when I really liked it.
I dont recommend watching everything they made. Much as I like Chuck he is an "Evangelical" Christian. But still hats off to him for being the only major star I am aware of that was bold enough to put Jesus in the face of their audience.

Re: The Faith Of Chuck Norris
wadr, this describes everything wrong with our conception of Christ, imo. I mean, the (inevitably "humble" and mild mannered) superman of God's righteous judgement, really? It was allowed on primetime TV; doesn't this indicate something to anyone? I dunno, Mike. Please see that i respect you, but this reeks of heresy to me. Yes, "evangelical christianity."

Re: The Faith Of Chuck Norris
however, i could not avoid my preconceptions here, and they don't negate that CN might have provided some witness to many millions. God repeatedly used the imperfect to do His will. I got 'saved' in a church, and now suspect them all of heresy. So, kudos to CN for writing the church into the script!

Shazeep, what does "wadr" refer to?
