4/24/1974 (Decantur Daily Review, p. 33)Rev. George F. Sims, 79, of 569 Longview Place died 5:40 p.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Hospital.- Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Bethel Pentecostal Church, 1275 East Division St. Friends may call at the Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home after 5 p.m. Thursday and until noon Friday and at the church from 1 p.m. until service time Friday. Rev. Sims was born in Tower Hill, a son of John Thomas and Martha Sheehorn Sims. He was ordained in the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in 1925. He founded and pastored the Pentecostal Church in Her-rick and served as a minister in other area towns. After moving to Decatur he served the Bethel Pentecostal Church 18 years and retired in 1956. During the 18 years, he was employed by Mueller Co. He was married to LaVada Goff, she died in 1970. Surviving are daughters, Mrs.i Howard (Goldie) O'Daffer and Mrs. John (Nelda) Auvil, both of Decatur; Mrs. Sheldon (Genell) Black of Tower Hill; sons, Homer R., Rev. George A., Bill R. and Arthur, all of Decatur; Delbert of Pana; ...brother, Howard, of Pana; sisters, Mrs. Anna Davis of Shelbyville; Mrs. Alta' Carmen of Windsor; 33 grandchildren and 22 greatgrandchildren. Two sons, two brothers and a sister preceded in death.


1/7/1981 (Herald and Review, Decanter, Illinois, p. 103) Sims The Rev. George A. Sims, 54, of 2054 E. North St. died 9:30 p.m. Monday (Jan. 5. 1981) in his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Bethel Bible Church. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials: Bethel Bible Church. Rev. Sims was born in Kin-mundy, son of George and Vada Sims. He was a retired employee of Superior Welding Co., minister of the Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ, hospital pastor of Bethel Bible Church, conducted services at Lakeshore Manor Nursing Home, was a member and board member of Bethel Bible Church,.

The first obituary is him. I’m looking for records of his involvement with ACJC and PAJC, or possibly PCI. My grandma says he was state overseer in his denomination at one time. Which organization though I am not sure.
