Further, consider the biblical example of girding the loins. A man would tie his robe up in his belt, exposing most of his legs for all to see. This was done when one engaged in any strenuous activity from warfare to recreational pursuits.

Here is one biblical example of such a practice.

But the hand of the LORD was on Elijah, who girded up his clothing and ran before Ahab as far as the approaches to Jezreel. (NAB)

How can one say that shorts are immodest when the biblical record paints an entirely different picture?
Pretty easy.....

LOl~ Well there are many things I wear I'd never ask my kids to wear, and likewise. I'm older they are younger, so this hold no weight!

The point I was attempting to make was this, "If you think its a sin to wear it youself, why would you allow your little ones wear it?"

I agree with you in principle actually but we did let our boys wear shorts until they moved into secondary school. However, we never allowed our daughter to wear them. We felt that it would confuse her if we let her wear them when she was little and then refused her to do so when she got older. With the boys, it was just different and was never an issue. When they started secondary school, we disallowed the shorts. They never made a fuss about it.

Consistency is a wonderful thing. I'm a great advocate of it but it's easier said than done sometimes.

No, if shorts are sinful they are sinful. When do you teach them?

When they're 12?

And BTW, I don't think they are sinful.
