Robert starts his first treatment tomorrow. I found out yesterday that only eight out of one hundred respond to the treatment. So if after a few treatments, and there is no response, they will stop and go with radiation treatment which will destroy his kidneys. So a new pray request is for a response to the IL2 treatment.

Hello Everyone,
Robert and and I were supposed to leave on Sunday morning to head back to Maryland to start his treatment, but we were notified by the Dr. that the white blood cells they removed from him did not grow in the lab.
What that means is his treatment is being delayed now for 2 weeks. They want Robert to come back anyway on Sunday and Monday morning they are going to be removing more of his white blood cells and will try to grow them again. If all goes well we will leave for Maryland on December 9th and return home sometime in January.
We are asking that you please pray for his cells to grow in the lab so they can treat him for this horrible cancer.
Thanks so much for all your thoughts and prayers.
Myra

Re: Stepson Robert
Hello Everyone,
Robert and I just got back from Maryland tonight. We did not receive any good news this time around. The tumor in Robert's throat has grown larger. His airway is now about 90 to 95% blocked. Right now the Doctors are not for sure how much of effect the radiation might have had on the tumor. They did say that it would take a few months for us to see any results in the radiation treatment. The Doctors wanted Robert to have surgery today to put a tracheostomy in place to secure his airway. At this time Robert has chosen not to do it. He is wanting to try Steroid for a few days to see if the steroids will shrink the tumor a little from the swelling of the radiation treatments.
There is one more treatment that is available for Robert that has a 50% success rate in shrinking tumors. Since Robert is now taking steroids we are going to have to wait 30 days after he finishes them to start the next treatment.
We will be going back to Maryland in 2 1/2 weeks to have more scans and test ran on Robert. At that time if the tumor is still blocking his airway they will then do the tracheotomy.
This trip this time was very, very, very stressful on the both of us. Making a huge decision like Robert made today was not an easy one to make, but when he made his decision, he told me, "He is putting his decision in the Lord's hands, and God would take care of him." Yes, right now things look scary for him, but I also know God is the one who makes the final decisions.
Thank you so much for continuing to pray for him. We know the next few days are not going to be easy, but I know he will get through them with your prayers.
Love
Myra

Re: Stepson Robert
Update:
Hello Everyone,
Good news this morning. Robert's "Cells" grew over the weekend. GOD IS SO GOOD. Today they are testing his cells to make sure they are AGGRESSIVE & ACTIVE CELLS to fight his cancer. Please pray that the cells are AGGRESSIVE and ACTIVE, so they can move forward with Robert's treatment. He really needs this treatment.
Love,
Myra
