for fun - if you like science the McWayne Center downtown is neat. The Birmigham Zoo is nice as well although I am not sure how much the animals will be moving around in this heat.

Jim N' Nicks is on the strip in Inverness, if you like Mexican, Superior Grill is awesome, white coat waiters, very fancy.
As others have posted, Vulcan is a must see
